WCUCOM Student Health Insurance-2025 rev

All medical students are required to have active health insurance coverage throughout their enrollment in accordance with WCUCOM policy, federal regulations, and accreditation standards for osteopathic medical schools. This year, all medical students have the option to add dental or vision coverage. Waivers and enrollments are being processed on behalf of WCUCOM by CEJ Insurance Services Inc of Laurel, MS. Action Required: Submit Student Health Insurance Form by Friday, August 1, 2025. All students must complete this form, whether enrolling in or waiving coverage.

Automatic Enrollment:
Students will be automatically enrolled in the UnitedHealth Care (UHC) Standard Plan unless they submit proof of eligible health insurance coverage by the deadline.

Coverage Dates & Billing (Billed by Semester):
*Fall Coverage: August 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026
*Spring Coverage: February 1, 2026 – July 31, 2026

Waiving UHC Coverage:
You may waive enrollment in the UHC plan only if you meet one of the following criteria:

*You are covered under a parent or spouse’s EMPLOYER-SPONSORED health insurance plan.
*You are enrolled in a government plan such as Tricare or Medicare. If you are enrolled in an out-of-state Medicare plan, be sure to determine if your plan covers medical care in Mississippi.
*You are an international student without a U.S. Social Security Number and are covered by GeoBlue insurance through the WCU International Student Affairs Office.

Not Accepted:
*Marketplace plans (Affordable Care Act or healthcare exchange plans)
*Cost-sharing plans (Christian health sharing ministries)
*Short-term travel insurance

To request a waiver, upload one of the following:
*A letter of creditable coverage from your insurance provider
*Screenshots from your insurance portal showing: Insurance company name, dates of coverage, Name of the primary insured; Your name listed as a dependent
*Note: Insurance ID cards alone are not sufficient proof of coverage.

Enrolling in UHC Coverage:
To enroll in UHC coverage, select one of the following plans:
*UHC Standard Plan or
*UHC Buy-Up Plan (offers lower annual deductible and out-of-pocket maximum)
*You may also enroll your spouse, children, or family if they need coverage.

International Students:
If you do not have a U.S. Social Security Number, you are required to enroll in GeoBlue international student insurance. Dependent coverage is not offered under GeoBlue.
