WCUCOM Student Health Insurance

All medical students must fill out this form each Fall. Students must have proof of health insurance coverage according to COCA regulations. WCUCOM offers insurance if you do not have any under a parent or spouse, U.S. Government plan (Tricare or Medicaid) or GeoBlue plan. This form is also used when you have a qualifying event (marriage, divorce, birth of a child, turn 26 and age of of parent's plan, etc.)

WCUCOM, federal law, and osteopathic medical school accreditation standards require health insurance for all medical students. You will be automatically enrolled in the UHC Standard Plan unless you can show proof of coverage under an eligible waiver option.

All students must fill out this form. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 2, 2024.

To waive health insurance -- Use the form below to waive (You must be covered with health insurance by a PARENT OR SPOUSE or a GOVERNMENT plan such as Tricare or Medicare) or you are an international student without a U.S. Social Security Number and have GeoBlue insurance through the International Student Affairs Office. Individual alternative healthcare marketplace plans and cost sharing plans are NOT ACCEPTABLE for waiving UHC coverage. You must upload a letter of creditable coverage or login to your insurance portal and take a screenshot including your insurance company name and the name of the primary insured and listing you as their dependent. Health insurance ID cards are not acceptable proof by themselves.

Use the form below to enroll in a UHC insurance plan [you must choose between the UHC Standard plan or Buy Up plan] and have the option to enroll spouse, children or family (spouse and children) if they also need health insurance coverage. UHC coverage begins August 1, 2024 and is billed by semester. FALL covers 8-1-2024 through 1-31-2025; SPRING covers 2-1-2025 through 7-31-2025.

International students: For international students without a U.S. Social Security Number, you should waive UHC insurance and contact the International Student Affairs Office to enroll in international student health insurance – email Alyssa Bond abond@wmcarey.edu. GEOBLUE is the only approved waiver -- short-term travel insurance DOES NOT QUALIFY as health insurance.
